FIA and Michelin lock horns

October 28th, 2005

So Michelin are pissed that the FIA have reintroduced tyre changing. They’re pissed because they loved making Bridgestone look like fools. But so what, this is nothing new from the FIA. The truth is, no tyre changing made the races way more boring for the TV viewers. And did it save costs? Nah. More interesting is the wording and positioning from Michelin. Getting ready to quit, leave us with a single tyre series and not lose face?

The Zen of Photos

October 12th, 2005

I’ve been looking around for a new way to display photos on the family website. The old slide show stuff was looking tired and lame. Of course, there is a plethora of software to help with that, but none of it really fit the bill: too complex, nasty interface, etc. But as luck would have it I stumbled across Zenphoto recently. I love it! It’s clean, simple to install and a breeze to use. It also nicely mirrors the way Wordpress does things, which means integration should be simple too. It might take some time to fully move things over, but for now, here’s the new gallery.

For the techy among you, I’m still using 0.8, with a minor mod to template-functions.php. I changed line 184 in printAdminLink function to:

printLink(WEBPATH.’/zen/admin.php’, $text, $title, $class, $id);

Other than that, it installs out of the box.
